Vladimir Atanasov is a Group Leader at the Institute of Chemical Engineering, University of Stuttgart, specializing in polymer and membrane technology. He holds a Dr. rer. nat. in polymer chemistry from the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. His research focuses on advanced materials for fuel cells, proton-conductive polymers, and renewable energy storage systems.
Education includes a PhD from Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (2003), postdoctoral work at Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research (2010) and Mainz (2007–2010), and degrees from Sofia University, Bulgaria. Key projects include membrane development for HT-PEM fuel cells and CO2 utilization for formic acid production.
He leads initiatives like PAULL (ultra-long battery lifespans) and the European School on Artificial Leaf. His work integrates polymer synthesis, material characterization, and electrochemical applications, emphasizing industrial scalability and sustainability.
