Vivian Ibrahim

Vivian Ibrahim is the Croft Associate Professor of History and International Studies at the University of Mississippi, specializing in religion, ethnicity, politics, and nationalism in 19th-20th century Egypt. She also serves as Director of the Office of National Scholarship Advisement. Her research focuses on the intersection of cultural diplomacy, world heritage, and geopolitical conflicts like the Arab-Israeli conflict and Cold War.

Education: PhD (School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, 2009), MSc (London School of Economics), BA (King's College). Previously held a post-doctoral position at University College Cork, Ireland, and taught at UK universities.

Research Interests: Egyptian modernization, Coptic communities, Middle Eastern political dynamics, transnational identity formations, and the historical roots of contemporary conflicts. Her current book project examines cultural diplomacy against Cold War and Arab-Israeli conflict backdrops.

Publications: Over 10 scholarly works including The Copts of Egypt (2010/2013), co-edited Political Leadership, Nations and Charisma (2012), and contributions to Ethnic and Racial Studies and Temenos. Her writing bridges historical analysis with contemporary socio-political issues.
