Vivek Gupta

Dr. Vivek Gupta is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. John’s University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. His research focuses on non-invasive drug delivery systems, nanotherapeutics, and therapies for rare respiratory diseases. He leads a lab developing scalable technologies for pulmonary and nasal drug delivery, with contributions to rare disease research and clinical translation.

• Postdoctoral training in Chemical Engineering at UC Santa Barbara (2011–2013)

Dr. Gupta’s research interests include inhalation drug delivery, rare diseases (e.g., mesothelioma, pulmonary hypertension), and drug repurposing. His lab has published over 115 peer-reviewed articles and holds multiple licensed technologies. Current projects involve nanomedicine manufacturing using high-pressure homogenizers and in-situ gels for localized delivery.

Articles focus on nanocarriers for lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, and glioblastoma treatment. Recent work highlights scalable techniques like high-pressure homogenization and QbD approaches for formulation optimization. His lab also explores excipient roles in inhaled dosage forms.
