Vittorio Verda

Vittorio Verda is a Full Professor in the Department of Energy (DENERG) at Polytechnic University of Turin. He serves as Academic Advisor for Energy Engineering programs, Partnership Agreement Coordinator with IREN, and Spoke leader for research and innovation activities. His work focuses on district heating, energy optimization, and energy systems within the Thermal Engineering and Industrial Energy Systems discipline.

Vittorio Verda's research interests center on district heating systems, energy optimization techniques, and integrated energy systems. His work explores thermal network simulation, groundwater thermal storage, heat pumps in second-generation district heating networks, and the integration of renewable energy sources. He investigates optimization approaches for multi-energy systems, thermal demand response, and energy storage technologies to enhance system flexibility and efficiency.

His research is supported by significant grants including EU-funded projects like PUSH-CCC, THUMBS-UP, NEST, and various commercial contracts focused on district heating optimization, thermal energy storage, and renewable energy integration.

As a member of the Interdepartmental Center Ec-L - Energy Center Lab and the Research Group M3ES (DENERG), Verda leads research teams working on cutting-edge energy solutions. His current projects include DHC Academy for Green and Digital Skills in District Heating, PUSH-CCC for large-scale energy storage, and THUMBS-UP for thermal energy storage solutions in buildings.
