Dr. T. Zhu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Thermal and Fluid Engineering at the University of Twente, affiliated with the Heat Transfer and Thermodynamics group (ET-TFE-HTT). Previously, they held a prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Fellowship at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) from 2019–2022, focusing on district heating systems and heat pump technologies. Their research emphasizes advancing sustainable energy systems through innovative thermal engineering solutions.
Education includes a Ph.D. in thermal behavior of novel solar thermal collectors using micro heat pipe arrays (MHPA), with contributions to phase change thermal storage and solar heating integration. Current research interests include optimizing heat pump systems with zeotropic refrigerants, mitigating frost formation in heat exchangers, and developing multi-source energy systems that blend renewable and conventional energy sources.
Key achievements include leading the development of a multifunctional heat pump testing platform at DTU’s Thermal Energy Section Laboratory. Expertise spans heat transfer physics, material engineering for heat exchangers, and system-level energy storage solutions.
