Virginie Ponsinet

Virginie Ponsinet is a CNRS Researcher at the Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal (CRPP), a joint unit of CNRS and University of Bordeaux. She has been with CRPP since 2004 and is a member of the "Meta-atoms, metamaterials, metasurfaces" team. Her work focuses on the design, fabrication and study of self-assembled metasurfaces and metamaterials for both acoustic and optical waves.

Dr. Ponsinet earned her Habilitation to conduct research (HDR) from University of Bordeaux in 2011. Her academic journey includes a visiting professorship at East China University of Science and Technology (2012-2013), and prior research positions at Complex Fluid Lab in the USA (1999-2003) and LPMC at Collège de France (1995-1999). She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Technion in Israel (1994-1995).

Her research spans multiple areas of soft matter and nanomaterials. Dr. Ponsinet specializes in colloidal nanostructures for metamaterials and metasurfaces, self-assembled colloids and polymer systems, and light scattering by colloids. Her work on functional nanocomposites based on organized block copolymers has led to significant advances in optical materials. She also investigates structured complex fluids and surfactants self-assembly as well as soft nanocomposites, contributing to both fundamental understanding and practical applications in photonics and materials science.

Dr. Ponsinet's publication record demonstrates consistent contributions to the field of metamaterials and soft matter physics over the past two decades. Her research has evolved from fundamental studies of complex fluids and block copolymers to advanced applications in optical metasurfaces and plasmonic materials. Recent work focuses on bottom-up fabrication approaches for creating sophisticated optical materials with tailored properties.

Dr. Ponsinet actively collaborates with multiple research groups across Europe and China, including projects on silicon nanoparticle synthesis, METACOOL with international partners, block copolymer thin films with LCPO in Bordeaux, plasmonic hybridosomes with ISCR in Rennes, and plasmonic metamaterials with NTNU in Norway. These collaborations reflect the interdisciplinary nature of her research spanning physics, chemistry, and materials science.
