Virginie Loizeau

Virginie Loizeau is a Research Fellow at the French School of Public Health (EHESP), affiliated with the Department of Human and Social Sciences and the UMR 6051 ARENES research unit. She holds a Doctorate in Sociology (2022), a Master of Research in Planning and Urbanism (2015), and is a licensed architect (DPLG, 2004).

Her research bridges social/medical sciences and spatial planning, focusing on health promotion through living environment design. Key areas include environmental health interactions, reduction of territorial health inequalities, chronic disease prevention (particularly respiratory conditions and cancer), and climate change impacts on public health. Her work examines how private/public spaces influence risk mitigation for conditions like cystic fibrosis and asthma.

Dr. Loizeau's doctoral research (funded by Vaincre la Mucoviscidose and Brittany Region) analyzed domestic respiratory risk prevention strategies, while her current Greencan project (INCA-funded) investigates urban green spaces' relationship to cancer risk through interdisciplinary epidemiology-environmental-social science collaboration.
