Virginia Marano

Virginia Marano is a Research Fellow at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, part of the Max Planck Society. She holds a PhD in art history from the University of Zurich and specializes in intersectional feminist theory, disability studies, and decentralized curatorial practices. Her work bridges digital humanities with critical examinations of accessibility in art institutions.

Research Focus: Marano's scholarship interrogates how code and technology shape societal norms in art, with emphasis on disability inclusion and "crip time." She co-founded the project "Rethinking Art History through Disability" and investigates Criptech art's role in challenging ableism.
