Vira Orlovska is a visiting scholar at the Institute of Environmental Sciences (ISE), University of Geneva, specializing in UNESCO World Heritage and transboundary conservation. Her current research focuses on the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone as a heritage site, examining its cultural, natural, and geopolitical dimensions.

Research Focus
Her work explores the interplay between cultural memory and ecological regeneration at the Chornobyl site, particularly how armed conflict impacts its dual significance as a nuclear disaster zone and a natural reserve. The project, supervised by Senior Lecturer Peter Bille Larsen, investigates the challenges of managing such sites under international designations.
