Vipul Patel

Vipul Patel is an Associate Professor of Structural Engineering in the School of Computing, Engineering, and Mathematical Sciences at La Trobe University, specializing in Civil Engineering. His academic journey includes a PhD in Structural Engineering from Victoria University (2013) and a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Swinburne University of Technology (2008).

Dr. Patel's research focuses on steel-concrete composite structures, steel structures, structural concrete, and AI applications in structural engineering. His work demonstrates a strong emphasis on sustainable construction materials, particularly in developing alkali-activated concrete with recycled aggregates, fiber-reinforced rubberized concrete, and innovative composite structural systems. He has published extensively with over 80 journal articles and two significant books: Nonlinear Analysis of Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular Columns (2015) and Concrete-Filled Stainless Steel Tubular Columns (2018).
