Vincent Russell is an Assistant Professor and Liberal Studies Program Coordinator in the Department of Communication at Western Carolina University. He teaches courses on intercultural communication, interpersonal communication, and public speaking. His research focuses on communication activism for social justice and deliberation processes in collective action, employing critical ethnography and community-based methods. Russell holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Colorado Boulder, an MA and BA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

His work appears in national/international journals, emphasizing collaborative community engagement to advance social justice goals.
Advising and grants: Russell has advised students in service-learning and activist research projects. His research has been applied in participatory budgeting initiatives and prison education programs. He co-authored evaluation reports for participatory budgeting projects in Greensboro and Auraria.
