Dr. Vincent Marconi is a Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, with joint appointments in the Rollins School of Public Health and the Emory Vaccine Center at Yerkes National Primate Research Center. He directs the Infectious Diseases Research Program at the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center and serves as a staff physician at Grady Health System’s Ponce de Leon Center, treating over 6,000 HIV patients. His research focuses on HIV disparities, inflammation in aging, and adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART), with global collaborations in South Africa, China, and Ethiopia. Dr. Marconi’s work addresses HIV treatment response, cardiovascular risks, and ART simplification strategies, supported by extensive clinical trials and cohort analyses.
- Education: MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine; BS in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida.
- Prior Service: U.S. Air Force (2005–2009), Director of the HIV Medical Evaluation Unit.

His international work examines HIV outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa, including hypertension integration, genotype resistance testing, and engagement with Traditional Healers. Domestic efforts involve studies on aging with HIV, long-COVID sequelae (via RECOVER), and comorbidity management.
