Vincent Leroy is an Associate Professor (HDR) at the University of Grenoble and a member of the SLIDE research group within the Laboratoire d’Informatique de Grenoble (LIG). Since August 2018, he has been on leave from the university while working at Google Zürich. His research focuses on distributed systems, large-scale data management, and algorithms for efficient data mining in data centers. Key projects include the French PIA-funded Datalyse (collaboration with Intermarché), the ANR-funded STIME ALICIA (crowdsourcing and composite objects with Xerox), and the ESPRIT industrial project (neural networks for low-power hardware with STMicroelectronics and TIMA lab).
Education: PhD in Computer Science from INSA Rennes (2007–2010) under Anne-Marie Kermarrec and Marin Bertier, followed by a postdoc at Yahoo! Research Barcelona (2010–2012). His work has spanned social Web dataflow optimization, P2P networks, and scalable computing.
Advising: Currently co-advising Gianluca Barbon. Former PhD students include Julien Pilourdault (now at Salesforce), Oleg Iegorov (postdoc at Waterloo), and Martin Kirchgessner (data scientist at Luxia). Grants include funding from ANR, PIA, and industrial partnerships. He serves on the editorial board of Information Systems and has chaired conferences like EDBT 2014.
