Radu Patrice Horaud is a Research Director at INRIA Grenoble Rhône-Alpes, France, since 1998. He leads the RobotLearn team and previously founded and directed the PERCEPTION team (2007–2021). His research focuses on computational vision, audio signal processing, robotics, and machine learning. He has authored over 200 scientific publications and received prestigious grants including two ERC awards (2013 and 2017). His work includes pioneering contributions to 3D sensor data analysis, audio-visual fusion for human-robot interaction, and multimodal perception systems.
Education: PhD in 1981. Prior experience includes postdoctoral work at SRI International (1982–1984) and research roles at CNRS Grenoble (1984–1998). Awards include the ACM-TOMM Best Paper Award (2020) and ERC grants. He has contributed to projects like H2020 SPRING and the Multidisciplinary Institute in Artificial Intelligence (MIAI).
Research interests span robotics, computer vision, and audio-visual scene analysis, with applications in healthcare and human-robot interaction. His teams develop technologies for socially pertinent robots and multimodal perception frameworks.
