معرفی
Vincent Lagendijk is an Assistant Professor (part-time) in the Department of History at Maastricht University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, concurrently serving as a Senior Researcher at the Rathenau Institute in The Hague. He holds a PhD in History of Technology from Eindhoven University of Technology following earlier training in Economic History at Leiden University.
His research examines the interplay between technology, ideology, and transnational governance, with foci including:
- Historical development of international organizations and expert networks
- Electricity infrastructure and European integration
- Dam construction as a tool of internationalism
- Societal dimensions of nuclear technology governance
- Transformation of rural spaces through infrastructure
Recent publications demonstrate strong thematic clustering around 20th-century infrastructure politics, particularly analyzing energy systems (electricity grids, dams, nuclear power) through lenses of international cooperation, environmental impact, and sociotechnical decision-making. His edited volume 'Dam Internationalism' (2024) exemplifies this transnational approach.
At the Rathenau Institute, his work addresses technology-society interfaces, including Dutch radioactive waste management policy and ethics of technological assessment.
