Dr. Vincent Hall is a Lecturer in Computing at Newman University's Faculty of Arts, Society and Professional Studies. He holds a PhD from the University of Warwick in developing Machine Learning methods for protein structure estimation and robotic limb control. His expertise spans AI, robotics, data compression, and biomedical engineering.
Education includes a UG masters in Physics and Astronomy (Leeds), MSc in Physical Sciences/Life Sciences (Warwick), and a PhD in Chemistry/MOAC (Warwick). His research focuses on AI agents, robotic swarms, and applications of Machine Learning in automotive and healthcare sectors. He has pioneered technologies for vehicle data compression (Jaguar Land Rover), heart attack diagnostics via heart magnetic fields (Creavo Med Tech), and driver behavior scoring systems (Trakm8 Holdings).
Key collaborations include work with Chalmers University (robotic prosthetics), WMG/Onsemi (autonomous vehicle data compression), and the University of Warwick's Department of Computer Science. His publications cover feature selection algorithms, protein structure prediction, and LLM applications in coding.
Teaching focuses on computer science ethics, AI's societal impact, deep learning, cybersecurity, and mathematics. He also runs Build Intellect, coaching Data Scientists and authors coding books. Co-organized BrumAI (2023-2024), fostering AI community engagement in Birmingham.
