Dr. Vincent Brown is an Assistant Professor of Research in the Department of Geography & Anthropology at Louisiana State University (LSU), located in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. His research focuses on weather and climate systems, with specialties in precipitation dynamics, climatic extremes, severe weather events, and climate change impacts. He holds a Ph.D. from LSU (2019), an M.S. from the University of Tennessee (2016), and a B.S. from Salisbury University (2014).
Dr. Brown’s work emphasizes extreme weather phenomena such as hurricanes, tropical cyclones, and flooding, with applications to disaster preparedness and environmental resilience. His studies often combine geospatial analysis, climatological modeling, and real-world data to assess vulnerability and adaptation strategies in regions like Louisiana and the southeastern U.S.
He teaches Geog 2200: Hazards, Disasters, and the Environment and collaborates with the Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP). His research has contributed to understanding the rarity of extreme rainfall events, trends in hourly precipitation, and the implications of climate change for coastal ecosystems and human health.
