Dr. Vincent Bohlinger is a Professor in the Department of English at Rhode Island College, specializing in Soviet and Post-Soviet cinema with expanding focus on Ukrainian cinema. He teaches courses spanning film history, theory, analysis, and production, including specialized topics like Afro-Brazilian cinema and avant-garde filmmaking.
Research interests center on Soviet film aesthetics, examining stylistic evolution during Stalinist era (1928-1936) through archival materials. His current book project Toward a Second Utopia investigates technological influences on Soviet cinema's transition from montage to socialist realism. Recent work extends to contemporary Ukrainian documentaries and collaborative editing projects.
