Viktor Öwall is a Professor of Integrated Electronic Systems at Lund University and currently serves as Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research Infrastructure, PhD Education, IT, and External Engagement. He previously held leadership roles including Dean of Lund University’s Faculty of Engineering (LTH), Head of Department, and Director of Studies at the Department of Electrical and Information Technology (EIT). His academic journey includes an MSc (1988) and PhD (1994) in Electrical Engineering from Lund University, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA (1995-1996).
- Foundations & Leadership: Co-founder of VINNOVA's Industrial Excellence Centre for System Design on Silicon (SoS), led until 2014; co-founder of Phase Holographic Imaging AB.
- Responsibilities: Oversees research infrastructure, PhD education, IT strategy (digitization, data management, cybersecurity), and external partnerships.
His research focuses on advanced electronic systems and interdisciplinary innovation, with a history of translating academic research into industry applications through collaborative ventures.
