Vijai Kumar Gupta

Dr. Vijai Kumar Gupta is an Associate Professor and Deputy Chair of Bioprocessing at the School of Biotechnology, Dublin City University (DCU), Ireland. He also serves as a Principal Investigator at the DCU Life Science Institute (LSI). His research focuses on sustainable biorefineries, microbial biotechnology, and bio-based materials derived from waste biomass. Dr. Gupta has held academic roles globally, including at the University of Galway and Tallinn Technical University. He leads projects funded by the EPA, Teagasc Walsh Programme, and EU Horizon, among others.

Research interests include advanced bioprocessing, bioactive natural products, and circular bioeconomy-driven systems. Awards include fellowships from the Linnaean Society (UK) and multiple Indian scientific academies. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Biofuel Research Journal and holds editorial roles in BMC Microbiome and Critical Reviews in Biotechnology. Collaborations span industries like Cambond Ltd and AgriCycle Innovation.
