Professor Vievee Elaure Francis is a faculty member in the Department of English and Creative Writing at Dartmouth College’s Arts & Sciences School. Her academic focus centers on poetics, emphasizing deliberate creative practice and the cultural impact of poetry across historical and contemporary contexts. She holds a B.A. from Fisk University and an M.F.A. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Her research interrogates assumptions about poetry’s authenticity, prioritizing counterintuitive methods and contextual analysis. She explores how poetry catalyzes interdisciplinary literary studies and challenges received aesthetic norms.
