Victoria Sanford is Professor of Anthropology at Lehman College (CUNY) and Founding Director of the Center for Human Rights and Peace Studies. Her research analyzes state violence, genocide, and feminicide in Guatemala, employing forensic anthropology and legal anthropology approaches.
Sanford's work documents patterns of impunity and institutional complicity in gendered violence, with recent investigations focusing on structural barriers to justice. Her methodology combines ethnographic fieldwork, exhumation documentation, and legal analysis.
