Victoria L. King, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Kentucky. Her research focuses on cardiovascular pathobiology, particularly the role of inflammation and environmental factors in atherosclerosis, abdominal aortic aneurysms, and obesity-related vascular diseases. She completed her B.S. in Biology (1994) and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (1999), both at the University of Kentucky, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine.
Dr. King’s work integrates molecular biology, pharmacology, and environmental toxicology. Key areas include cytokine-mediated vascular responses (e.g., IL-4, serum amyloid A), drug therapies targeting COX-2 pathways, and the effects of environmental pollutants like PCBs on adipocyte differentiation and atherogenesis. Her recent collaborations explore team science dynamics in clinical research and disparities in health equity.
She is affiliated with the University of Kentucky’s Gill Heart and Vascular Institute. While no explicit awards are listed, she has engaged in fellowship programs and grant applications, including the Gill Awards Travel and Leadership Support. Her research spans basic science to translational studies, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to cardiovascular health.
