Victoria Ironmonger is an Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) and PhD student at the University of St Andrews, School of Mathematics and Statistics, Department of Pure Mathematics. Her research is conducted within the Algebra and Combinatorics group under the supervision of Prof. Nik Ruškuc.
Her primary research interests lie in the theoretical foundations of combinatorics and order theory, with a focus on decidability, well quasi-ordering, and atomicity for partially ordered sets of combinatorial structures. She investigates these properties under various substructure orders, especially consecutive and embedding orders.
The single recent publication reflects a deep engagement with foundational questions in mathematical logic and structural combinatorics. The work centers on determining algorithmic decidability of order-theoretic properties in equivalence relations, contributing to the broader understanding of order hierarchies in discrete mathematics.
From 2022 to 2024, she co-led the Piscopia Initiative, an outreach program dedicated to supporting women and students of underrepresented genders in pursuing PhDs in mathematics. This role highlights her commitment to inclusion and mentorship within the mathematical community.
- PhD in Pure Mathematics, University of St Andrews (ongoing)
- Research in Algebra and Combinatorics group
- Active contributor to mathematical outreach and equity initiatives
She has no known advisees at this stage and is not listed as leading any formal research lab or team. However, her leadership in the Piscopia Initiative demonstrates active community engagement.
