Catherine Reilly is a second-year PhD student and Associate Tutor at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics within the Faculty of Science. She works under the supervision of Professor Robert Gray, focusing on combinatorial algebra and decidability problems in groups and inverse monoids. Her research has led to two peer-reviewed publications in 2025, co-authored with A. Clayton and N. Ruškuc.
Education: She holds a First Class Master of Mathematics (MMath) from the University of St Andrews (2018–2023), with a final-year project titled 'The Theory of Subdirect Products' supervised by Professor Nik Ruškuc. She also completed summer research internships and an assistantship under Ruškuc and Clayton.
Teaching: She has taught modules including Cryptography, Computation and Modelling, and Further Mathematics for Scientists. She actively participates in academic events, including organizing the Model Theory in the UK conference (2025) and presenting at the North British Semigroups and Applications Network meeting.
Professional Roles: She serves as the Post Graduate Research (PGR) Representative in her school, coordinating social events for PGR students.
