Dr. Victoria Cox is an Associate Professor in the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures at Appalachian State University, part of the College of Arts & Sciences. She specializes in Latin American Literature and Culture, with focuses on Andean Studies, Colonial texts, and Argentine popular theatre. Her research bridges historical and contemporary cultural studies, particularly examining indigenous perspectives and colonial legacies.
Dr. Cox holds a PhD in Latin American Literature and Culture from the University of Maryland (1997). Her work integrates performance studies and gender analysis, notably through her 2002 book on Guaman Poma de Ayala's representation of time and space. In 2007, she received a Fulbright award to research at the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut in Berlin. She also co-authored a 2011 study on British colonial influences in Argentine theatre and film.
Recognized as a member of the College of Arts & Sciences Academy of Outstanding Teachers, Cox teaches Spanish language and advanced courses in Latin American Women Writers and Business Spanish. Her research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to Andean and Latin American cultural production.
