George Antony Thomas is a Professor and Chair of the Department of World Languages and Literatures at California State University, San Bernardino (2020–present). He has previously held faculty positions at the University of Northern Colorado (2017–2020) and the University of Nevada, Reno (2006–2017), where he advanced from Assistant to Associate Professor. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Spanish from Emory University (2006) and graduate/undergraduate degrees in Spanish and English.

Notable works include his monograph on Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz—the “First Feminist of the Americas”—and contributions to the Routledge Research Companion to her works.
Recent research explores indigenous Andean artist-writer Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala, Peruvian mestizo author Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, and visual representations of the Americas in early modern manuscripts. His pedagogical contributions include co-editing a volume on teaching methodologies for the history of the book. Thomas's career spans over 18 years as a Spanish professor, marked by leadership roles and interdisciplinary engagement.
