Victor Veitch is an Assistant Professor of Statistics and Data Science at the University of Chicago and a Research Scientist at Google Cambridge. His research focuses on the intersection of machine learning and causal inference, with an emphasis on designing safe and credible AI systems, network data analysis, and foundational aspects of statistical inference.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Statistics, University of Toronto (advised by Daniel Roy)
- Postdoctoral Researcher, Columbia University (mentored by David Blei and Peter Orbanz)
- Quantum Computing Researcher, University of Waterloo
Research Interests:
Veitch bridges theoretical and applied domains, including machine learning, causal inference, AI ethics, network analysis, and quantum computing. His work addresses the reliability and safety of AI systems while exploring the mathematical foundations of learning algorithms.
