Frederic Koehler

Frederic Koehler is an incoming Assistant Professor of Statistics and Data Science at the University of Chicago, starting January 2024. Currently, he is a Motwani Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University and previously held a research fellowship at UC Berkeley’s Simons Institute in Computational Complexity of Statistical Inference.

• PhD in Mathematics and Statistics, MIT (advised by Ankur Moitra and Elchanan Mossel)
• BSc in Mathematics, Princeton University

His research focuses on computational learning theory, with interests spanning probability theory, high-dimensional statistics, optimization, and statistical physics. A key emphasis is learning and inference in graphical models.
