Victor Paquet is a Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University at Buffalo, SUNY. His work focuses on universal design principles, human performance in disability contexts, and occupational ergonomics to enhance health and safety in workplaces and transportation systems. He holds a ScD from the University of Massachusetts Lowell (1998), an MS from Virginia Tech (1995), and a BS from Tufts University (1991).
His research emphasizes accessibility in transit systems, particularly wheelchair securement systems and low-floor bus design. Recent work includes the ITS4US Deployment Project phases for Buffalo and California, addressing smart mobility infrastructure and deployment planning. He has contributed to the development of evaluation tools such as ErgoPART for real-time postural analysis in surgical environments and the ErgoPART system for ergonomic job analysis.
Paquet serves on editorial boards for Applied Ergonomics and the International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics, and holds leadership roles in professional organizations including the College Industry Council on Material Handling Education and Council of Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads. His interdisciplinary approach bridges engineering, public health, and human factors to advance inclusive design standards.
