Victor Orlando Fernandez-Mallat is an Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Georgetown University's College. His research focuses on sociolinguistics, language variation, and identity projection through forms of address in Chilean Spanish and U.S. dialectal contact situations. He holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from Université de Montréal (2014), along with M.A. and B.A. degrees in Hispanic American Studies from the same institution. He teaches Spanish Linguistics and explores how social and linguistic factors shape language use.
