Victor Kantsyrev

Victor Kantsyrev is a Research Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), where he has held this position since 1998. His career includes roles such as Assistant Research Professor (1996–1997) and Visiting Scholar/Lecturer (1994–1996) at UNR, as well as leadership roles in institutions like the Research Scientific Institute of Technical Glass (Moscow, Russia) and Moscow Engineering Physics Institute. He earned a Ph.D. from MEPhI (1981) and a Doctor of Science degree from the Russian Academy of Sciences (1992).

His research focuses on high-energy-density plasma physics, including Z-pinch and laser plasma dynamics, pulsed-power science, and advanced diagnostics. Kantsyrev leads the Radiation Physics Laboratory (RPL, founded in 2013) and the Plasma Physics and Diagnostics Laboratory (PPDL, founded in 2002). He has secured major grants from agencies like DTRA/DoD, DOE/NNSA, and NASA, focusing on Z-pinch systems, x-ray radiation generation, and plasma stabilization.
