Vicky Wang is an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music and cellist of the ensemble-in-residence Trio 180. She is also the artistic director and co-founder of C’est Bon Chamber Music Academy, which focuses on nurturing young musicians through chamber music. Prior to her current role, she served on the faculty of Mannes College of Music and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in New York City.
Education: B.M. and M.M. from The Juilliard School, D.M.A. from City University of New York. Her principal teachers include Eleonore Schoenfeld, Zara Nelsova, and Marcy Rosen. Her doctoral dissertation compared cello teaching techniques of Julius Klengel and Hugo Becker.
Research interests span cello performance, chamber music collaboration, and music pedagogy. She actively performs and lectures, with recent engagements at the Chamber Music America Conference, Pacific Music Institute, and Shkolnikova Academy (France). Her students have performed as soloists with major youth orchestras, and she maintains a private studio in Palo Alto.
Award-winning cellist, Wang has collaborated with Ray Charles and Liza Minnelli, and participated in festivals such as Verbier (Switzerland), Spoleto (Italy), and Music Academy of the West. She is a founding member of the San Francisco Cello Quartet and serves as artist-teacher at Sonoma Music Festival.
