Vicky Simpson is a Contract Academic Instructor in the Department of English at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), holding a PhD in English. She has been teaching at UNB for over a decade and currently focuses on online course delivery. In addition to her academic role, she serves as a policy and research analyst at the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission.
Her research centers on 19th-century British literature, including Victorian sensation novels and Gothic traditions, with particular attention to queer literary interpretations and gender dynamics in works by authors like Elizabeth Gaskell, Wilkie Collins, and Charlotte Brontë. Her publications appear in journals such as Victorian Review, Victorians Institute Journal, and Nineteenth-Century Gender Studies.
She has received the UNB Arts Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award and previously served as Coordinator of the Association for Canadian College and University Teachers of English (ACCUTE) from 2018-2020.
