Vicky Kapogianni

Dr. Vicky Kapogianni is a Lecturer in EU and International Law at the University of Reading, serving as Programme Director for LLB (Law) and LLB with Criminology. She also co-directs PGT programmes and convenes key modules on International Organisations and Global Governance. Her research focuses on global legal challenges at the intersection of climate change, migration, and human rights, particularly maritime sovereignty and EU externalisation strategies.

Dr. Kapogianni holds interdisciplinary qualifications, including a PhD from Paris II Panthéon-Assas University and multiple LLMs from leading French institutions. She has taught at universities in the UK and abroad, receiving awards for innovative teaching methods like 'Videogamising International Law.' Her recent grants include a BA/Leverhulme Small Research Grant for a project on climate justice in the Caribbean and a monograph under contract with Brill on climate-induced displacement.

Her research explores legal frameworks addressing climate mobility, maritime sovereignty, and structural harms caused by migration externalisation. She co-edits an interdisciplinary volume on genocide and the ocean, examining colonial violence and environmental destruction. Key themes in her work include decolonised reparatory justice and legal accountability for marginalized communities.

Dr. Kapogianni has presented at major conferences worldwide, including sessions on climate migration at the University of Nottingham and the IAGS conference in Johannesburg.
