Vickie Lynn Porter

Vickie Lynn Porter serves as an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), having joined the institution in August 2024. Her academic responsibilities include teaching undergraduate population health courses and graduate-level advanced health assessment instruction, leveraging extensive clinical experience spanning medical-surgical, cardiac stepdown, geriatric, and community health nursing.

Her commitment manifests through direct disaster response work during Hurricane Katrina (2005) and Hurricane Gustav (2008), providing critical care to evacuees, and establishing Memphis region points of distribution (PODs) for COVID-19 vaccines. These experiences demonstrate her applied approach to addressing health disparities and improving access to vulnerable communities through public health interventions.
