Veysi Aka is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at Bingöl University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD in Social Work from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa (2023). His career includes Research Assistant roles since 2017 and transition to Assistant Professor in 2025. He also worked as a Social Worker at İstanbul Halk Sağlığı Müdürlüğü (2016-2017).
Education: BSc in Social Work (Yalova University, 2015), MSc in Social Work (Yalova University, 2018), PhD in Social Work (Istanbul University, 2023).
Research focuses on addiction studies (gambling, substance use), digital behavioral addictions, social policies, and youth/elderly welfare. Key contributions include validation of gambling damage scales and analyses of media representation of elderly populations.
Recent articles emphasize the societal impact of gambling, digital addiction trends, and community-based interventions in disaster contexts. He contributed to research projects on beekeepers' socio-economic conditions and co-authored chapters on addiction in disaster scenarios and digital transformation.
Teaches courses like 'Substance Abuse and Social Work' and moderates policy workshops for local governments in Bingöl and surrounding regions.
