Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski"معرفی
Prof. Vesselin Todorov Donchev is a leading researcher at the Department of Condensed Matter Physics and Microelectronics, Faculty of Physics, Sofia University "St. Clement of Ohridski", Bulgaria. He holds a DSc (2022) and PhD (1991) in Solid State Physics from Sofia University, with MS in Physics (1985) and secondary education at the 9th French Language Secondary School (1978). As Head of the Department (2013-2023) and Professor (since 2023), he has led numerous national and international research projects focusing on semiconductor nanostructures for photovoltaic applications.
- Academic Leadership: 2023 Professor, 2013-2023 Department Head, 2004-2023 Associate Professor, 1986-1991 PhD Student
- International Collaborations: Research stays at UNICAMP (2008), Linköping University (2002-2003), University Paris 6 (2001), EPFL (1992-1993)
Research Focus on semiconductor optoelectronics and photovoltaic nanostructures, particularly dilute nitrides, quantum wells/dots, and perovskite-silicon heterostructures. His work spans material synthesis via liquid phase epitaxy, surface photovoltage spectroscopy for defect analysis, and carrier transport studies. Recent projects include innovative solar cells using dilute nitride materials and perovskite photovoltaics.
Scientific Contributions include over 40 publications in high-impact journals (ACS Omega, Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Applied Physics) and participation in FP7 and H2020 programs. He serves as evaluator for EU research frameworks and holds advanced proficiency in English, French, Russian with basic German.
