Vesna Kucher

Vesna Kucher is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Teaching and School Development within the School of Education at Alpen-Adria-University Klagenfurt. She serves as Head of the Teaching Coordination Office and Director of Studies for pedagogical training and educational science fundamentals. Her roles include overseeing teacher training programs, managing admissions, and coordinating curricula. She is also a member of the Board of the School of Education and actively involved in the Development Network South-East (EVSO).

Education:

• Master’s degree in English and American Studies (Mag.) from the University of Ljubljana (2003–2010)
• Teacher training in English and German at the University of Ljubljana (1997–2003)
• Studies in German with Dutch and Scandinavian Studies (1999–2001)

Research & Professional Focus: Vesna specializes in foreign language education, intercultural communication, and curriculum development. She has led national projects such as Introduction of the Second Compulsory Foreign Language in Primary School and Understanding in Foreign Languages (CLIL). Her work emphasizes practical implementation of educational policies and teacher training innovations.

Advising & Grants: Vesna coordinates practical school training for students and advises on teacher career development. She contributes to projects like the EVSO network and the Climate Neutral Klagenfurt initiative. Her work bridges academic research with applied educational practice.

Labs & Teams: She leads the Teaching Coordination Office team and collaborates with researchers in the Institute’s Social Skills & Group Dynamics and Organizational Training groups. Her team includes experts like Irina Andreitz and Helge Kminek.
