Veronika Skuplik is a Lecturer in Baroque Violin and Viola at the University of the Arts Bremen. She is internationally recognized for her performances, recordings, and teaching across Europe, the US, Australia, New Zealand, China, and Korea. Her artistic work focuses on 17th-century repertoire, emphasizing vocal-style expression and experimental approaches in early music. She collaborates with ensembles like Concerto Palatino, L'Arpeggiata, and her own group UrgentMusic, showcasing her passion for historically informed performance.
Education: She studied at Folkwang University of the Arts (Essen), Westphalian Wilhelm University (Münster), and the Bremen Academy for Early Music (now part of the University of the Arts Bremen), graduating in 1991 under Prof. Thomas Albert.
Research interests center on the expressive and vocal qualities of 17th-century music, celebrated for her 'singing' violin style praised by critics and audiences. Her discography exceeds 100 CDs, including solo albums like VIOLINO I (anonymous Austrian sonatas) and recent releases silk&tweed (2020) and VIOLINO II – catena bohemica (2021).
Teaching and mentorship: She leads masterclasses and orchestra projects in Hamburg, Katowice, Detmold, and Carnegie Hall. She also directs the International WinterAcademy of Early Music in Bremen.
