Veronica Terriquez

Veronica Terriquez is a Professor of Chicana/o and Central American Studies and Urban Planning at UCLA's Luskin School of Public Affairs, and Director of the Chicano Studies Research Center. Her research focuses on social inequality, immigrant incorporation, and transitions to adulthood, emphasizing policy relevance for low-income immigrant, Black, and Indigenous communities. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from UCLA, an M.Ed. from UC Berkeley, and a B.A. in Sociology from Harvard University.

Terriquez has received major grants from the Irvine Foundation, California Endowment, and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, alongside fellowships from the Ford Foundation and Stanford's Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. Her work bridges academia and practice, collaborating with schools, unions, and governments.

She is committed to active mentorship, co-authoring publications with students. Her recent research emphasizes institutional policies responsive to marginalized communities, with a focus on civic engagement and urban development.
