Dr. Veronica Silva is an Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management. Her research focuses on visuomotor processes in human locomotion, particularly in challenging environments like stair navigation and obstacle avoidance, integrating biomechanical, perceptual, and neurophysiological methodologies.
Education: PhD in Kinesiology (University of Waterloo, Canada), MSc in Movement Sciences (São Paulo State University, Brazil), and a Bachelor’s in Physical Education (São Paulo State University, Brazil). Previous roles include Research Scientist at Liberty Mutual Research Institute and Lecturer at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Research interests span visual information processing during mobility, aging-related locomotor changes, and neurophysiological underpinnings of movement control. Her work emphasizes practical applications for improving safety and mobility in diverse populations.
