Veronica S. Young

Veronica S. Young is a Clinical Professor in the Pharmacy Practice Division at the College of Pharmacy, The University of Texas at Austin, serving as Director of Interprofessional Education and Community Engagement and Founding Director of the UT Center for Health Interprofessional Practice and Education launched in fall 2017.

Education:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from Creighton University, Omaha, NE
• Pharmacy practice residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis
• Specialty practice residency in drug information and evidence-based practice at The University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio
• Master of Public Health (MPH) from UT Houston School of Public Health

Dr. Young specializes in patient safety, quality improvement, and population health through interprofessional community engagement. She develops academic-community partnerships addressing health disparities and literacy via capacity building, while holding certifications as a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer and Community Action Poverty Simulation facilitator.

As faculty advisor for the PharmD/MPH concurrent degree program, Dr. Young leads the Center for Health IPE—a seven-school collaboration including Dell Medical School and the School of Nursing—focusing on advancing person-centered care. She co-founded the Texas IPE Consortium to transform statewide healthcare education through shared best practices and team-based care innovation.

Her center drives scholarship in collaborative practice models, directly linking interprofessional education to population health outcomes through academic-community partnerships across Texas.
