Veronica Giron is an Instructor in the School of Communication Studies at James Madison University (JMU), where she began her role in 2024. She holds a B.A. in Organizational Communication and Spanish from JMU, with minors in Spanish-English Translation & Interpretation and Legal Spanish. She also earned a Master’s degree in Communication Studies from Virginia Tech. Her research focuses on Latino communities, examining media’s impact on identity and self-esteem, including groundbreaking work creating a scale to measure the perceived realism of Latino characters in media. She actively participates in academic discourse, presenting at Virginia Tech’s Annual Conference on Higher Education Pedagogy (2023–2024) on topics like imposter syndrome and public speaking anxiety. She teaches SCOM 122 and is dedicated to challenging stereotypes through scholarship. Beyond academia, Veronica enjoys photography, traveling, and reading.
