Veronica Biermann is a Professor of Design and Architectural History at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. She assumed the role in December 2018 after serving as a substitute professor there since October 2016. Her academic career includes research and teaching positions at institutions such as Technische Universität Berlin, Humboldt University Berlin, and Technical University of Munich.
- Born in 1962 in Rome
- Studied art history, classical archaeology, theatre studies, medieval and contemporary history (1984–1990) in Mainz, Munich, and Berlin
- Doctorate (1995) from Technische Universität Berlin on architectural theory in Leon Battista Alberti's work
- Habilitation (2008) at Technical University of Munich on Queen Christina of Sweden's Roman representation strategies
Her research spans three core areas: architectural history and theory from the 15th to 21st centuries, genre and media-spanning history of the Roman Baroque, and design history of the 19th and 20th centuries. She has held substitute professorships at Humboldt University Berlin and University of Leipzig since 2008.
