Veronica Austen is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean at St. Jerome’s University, a constituent college of the University of Waterloo. She holds a dual Bachelor of Arts in English and Fine Art (1997) from the University of Guelph, followed by her MA and PhD at the University of Waterloo. Her research focuses on intersections between visual arts and literature, particularly in contemporary poetry, Caribbean, and Canadian literary contexts.
Professor Austen’s academic background in Fine Art influences her exploration of visual elements within textual narratives. She contributes to the English Language and Literature department while leading administrative initiatives as Associate Dean. Her work bridges disciplinary boundaries, reflecting her interdisciplinary education and career trajectory.
