Vernon Percy, an Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department since August 2017, has over two decades of experience in higher education, specializing in teaching, academic/athletic counseling, and coaching. His academic journey includes a B.A. in Psychology from Westfield State University, an M.Ed. in Counseling and Psychological Services with a focus on Athletic Counseling from Springfield College, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Percy’s research explores the intersection of sport and individual growth, emphasizing sport-based youth development programming, the application of sport psychology principles, and service learning integration into curricula. He has presented his findings at regional and national conferences, particularly on service learning in youth development contexts.
His professional expertise extends to clinical practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and sport psychology consulting, complementing his academic contributions. He also pioneered the Certificate in Youth Development program, incorporating his Sports-based Youth Development course.
