Verena Stürmer

Dr. Verena Stürmer holds the position of Akademische Oberrätin (Senior Lecturer) at the Chair of Primary School Pedagogy and Primary School Didactics at the University of Würzburg, within the Faculty of Human Sciences. She specializes in multilingualism in education, inclusion, migration studies, and the historical analysis of educational media. Her research focuses on written language acquisition in multilingual contexts, the role of educational materials in primary schooling, and teacher professional development.

Stürmer earned her Dr. phil. in Education in 2013 and has held academic roles since 2007. She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, examining topics such as refugee education, service learning, and the historical development of reading primers in post-war Germany. Her work bridges historical pedagogy with contemporary issues like digitalization in education and multicultural classroom practices.

She actively participates in academic governance, serving on committees for gender equality and conflict management at the university level. Her teaching and research emphasize practical classroom applications, with a focus on supporting multilingual children and fostering reflective teacher training.
