Vera Snijders is a PhD Candidate and Researcher at Utrecht University's Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, affiliated with the Development & Education of Youth in Diverse Societies department. Her work focuses on language development, bilingualism, and language mixing in children, particularly in the context of the NWO Vici-funded CALM project.

Her research explores how social, linguistic, and cognitive factors influence children's language mixing behavior, with a longitudinal focus on Turkish-Dutch children and those with developmental language disorders. She collaborates with Prof. Dr. Elma Blom, Dr. Merel van Witteloostuijn, and other project members.
Vera has published three key works: a 2025 longitudinal study on language switching, a 2023 systematic review on language mixing in multilingual children, and a 2020 article on toddlers' language development. These cover topics in cognitive science, sociolinguistics, and pediatric developmental psychology.
