Dr. Astrid Poorthuis is an Associate Professor in Developmental Psychology at Utrecht University's Faculty of Social Sciences. Her research examines how school practices affect children's and adolescents' emotions, attributions, self-views, identity, and engagement.

She supervises students across Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels and leads educational innovations as a Teaching Innovation Ambassador. Current projects include the GREENTEENS initiative on youth sustainability engagement.
